The chance of recidivism is high....Tufts researchers recognize three types of hoarders. Two, the overwhelmed caregiver and rescuer hoarder, may be "helped with intervention by family, friends and social agencies," Toft noted, but the third, the exploiter hoarder, resists treatment. The person has to recognize there is a problem to accept treatment... ‘and the narcissist aspect of this behavior prevents that. This kind of hoarding is as resistant to treatment as say pedophilia and sexual predators,’ Toft wrote...”

Declaration is filed by Lesley Huennekens, AC Officer with Riverside County Oct 19, 2006 “...was immediately overcome by the stench of urine and feces...I entered the kitchen a Rottweiller mix tied so tightly inside the cabinet, the dog could not move. There was no food or water visible. The dog appeared very thin and fearful when I approached....I heard barking from behind a door secured by numerous bungee cords...I discovered two dogs cowering in the corner of what appeared to be a pantry. The two dogs were covered in urine and feces...the pantry was disintegrating and caused urine burns on the pads of the dog’s feet...(the pantry dogs) had no water, food or light...we entered another room and found two dogs fighting over a dead cat...in a bathroom and found a dog tied with a cable inside the bathtub. There was no food or water...I had to use bolt cutters to free the dog from the wall...in another room, we found two chihuahua mixed dogs, each trapped inside an animal carrier. Both carriers were so full of feces and cockroaches that they could not stand up. The dogs appeared malnourished...a total of fifteen dogs and twenty-three cats were impounded...”

Lou Senno wants to clear the name of his sister, Anita Louise Senno Gilbert. Senno was shocked when he got a call from a bail bondsman Wednesday night. The suspect "Anita Gilbert" had skipped out on her bail, and the bondsman was trying to find any family in hopes of tracking her down..."Gilbert" posted bail on the charges of animal abuse, then in August new charges were added that Gilbert had allegedly threatened a deputy public defender. An arrest warrant has been out for "Gilbert" since then...Senno believes the suspect stole his sister's identity. "The person that was arrested did assume my sister's identification fraudulently," said Senno...”

An animal-hoarding woman won't go to jail on cruelty charges, but she may for identity theft.Cynthia Gudger was sentenced Monday in Kern County Superior Court to five years probation for five counts of animal cruelty, which she pleaded no contest to in January.Instead of being released from jail, however, Gudger is being handed off to federal custody to face charges of identity theft. Gudger was was widely known by her false alias of Anita Gilbert when animal control officials seized nearly 50 dogs and cats from Gudger's Tehachapi home in July 2008. “...The arrest of Barbara Ryan ends a two-year odyssey that took her from Hemet to Tehachapi to Fillmore, among other locations, and involved more than 100 dogs and cats...At the time of the Tehachapi arrest, the Kern County officials found boxes used to transport animals, labeled with Riverside County Animal Services and the ID numbers of the animals confiscated from the Hemet house, Gutierrez said...She and others from her department went to Tehachapi and identified 14 cats that had been in Hemet -- some still wearing the same collars...Authorities say she (Gilbert / Ryan) adopted several aliases, and they now suspect that an animal-rescue group aided her while she was on the run...Authorities now believe that the animal rescue group that took custody of the animals after the Hemet raid, Dogs at Home Inc., gave them back to Ryan, Gutierrez said.
