We are a group of former volunteers who gave our time and energy for several years to Kimi Peck’s Chihuahua Rescue in Burbank, CA. We joined with the hope and intent of helping unfortunate and abandoned dogs, but were disillusioned by the reality of Chihuahua Rescue: the dogs were kept in deplorable conditions while qualified families were denied an opportunity to give many of these dogs a loving home.

When we tried to bring about change from the outside, we were threatened with legal action, such as slander and libel lawsuits. Most of us were not in a position to fight such actions by ourselves, but as our numbers grew, we came to understand that if we stood together, we could effectuate change.

In keeping with the pattern of attacking anyone who points out the deficiencies of the Rescue, Ms. Peck has attempted to discredit us as a group of "crazies and misfits." That is not the case. Our numbers include school teachers, animal trainers, veterinarians, animal rescuers, homemakers and other responsible citizens.

Declarations
“...geriatric dogs in her care were sorely neglected and not provided (with) routine necessary veterinary medical care.. Many of these older dogs simply died a slow death...”

Within this website we have posted much information on animal hoarding and on Ms. Peck, beginning with the declaration of the Edmondson’s (her former landlords), to statements by those who volunteered and worked with her in Burbank, to her current status in Kern County, CA.

By creating this website we have also discovered additional information regarding those that are associated with Ms. Peck: her CPA Susan Marlowe and Marlowe’s involvement with another accused hoarder, Cynthia Gudger, currently in a mental hospital awaiting trial.

The Marlowe / Gudger Connection

We hope this website will help you understand the problem of hoarding and that not every rescuer works for the benefit of the animals.  We are simply the voice of the animals who cannot speak for themselves.

In early July 2010, Kimi Peck was
“EVICTED” FROM THE PROPERTY FORMALLY OCCUPIED BY CYNTHIA GUDGER
AND OWNED BY SUSAN MARLOWE.

On July 9th Ms. Peck voluntarily signed over approximately 150 animals, mostly dogs, to Kern County Animal Control. Kern AC then released the animals to the Humane Society of the United States. These animals went to a temporary facility where they received shots, deworming meds and a preliminary vet check. From there the animals were moved to the Sacramento SPCA and other reputable organizations for adoption.

Although Ms. Peck was found in violation of county regulations, it appears she avoided any charges by voluntarily signing the animals over.

Ms. Peck was allowed to keep 50+ animals, but has no permanent residence.
Her only real property appears to be a white utility van, a jeep and a fifth wheel mobile home - but no vehicle strong enough to pull it.

Summary:  In November of 2009 two puppies whose mother died after giving birth were given to a “rescuer” Kim Maggio with the understanding the puppies would be returned once weaned.  Ms. Maggio then gave the puppies to Kimi Peck.  After several months, Ms. Peck refused to return the dogs to their rightful owner Julie Feiner.  Ms. Feiner desperately tried to get her puppies back, but was refused at every turn.  In July 2010, Ms. Peck turned over most of her animals to the HSUS, unfortunately, Ms. Feiner puppies were not part of those relinquished.

Ms. Feiner original plea from November 2009 can be found: here
